For more than 30 years, Shubhi Rao has been a global executive, board member and advisor who delivers strategic and operational leadership for dynamic andcomplex businesses including Alphabet/Google, Tesco, PwC, Tyco and Ford. She has demonstrated expertise in Capital Raising, Corporate Strategy, Budgeting/Forecasting, Investment Management, Investor Relations, Regulatory Compliance, Governance, M&A, Risk management and SaaS complemented with emerging technologies, including Cloud, AI, ML, Robotics and Blockchain.
Her next venture is what she hopes is her legacy. Shubhi has leveraged her experience along with her keenness for data and technology to champion inclusive practices that uplift professional women. This has sparked her to found Uplevyl: a First-of-its-kind, women trained AI platform designed to bridge the gender gap in organizations.Shubhi was appointed to the Board of Open Lending, a NASDAQ listed company in 2020. She serves on the Audit Committee and chaired the Compensation Committee. She also serves on the Board of Center for Global Development and is a former Board Member of the International Center for Research on Women. Shubhi is honorary economic advisory council member for the Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco.
Shubhi was the Officer & VP of Finance, Treasurer of Alphabet/Google, where she led global treasury activities. While at Alphabet, she partnered with the BOD and external advisors, establishing the strategy to manage $100B+ fixed income portfolio, $40B+ FOREX, & share buybacks. Prior to that role, Shubhi served as Group Treasurer for Tesco PLC., a British multinational grocery/merchandise retailer with over $75B in revenue, where she oversaw Global Corporate Treasury and Property Strategy. She served on the Defined Benefit Pension Investment and Risk Committees. Previously, Shubhi was Head of Treasury, Risk and Capital for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Prior to PwC, Shubhi was the VP and Assistant Treasurer of Global Liquidity for TYCO International Limited. Shubhi started her finance career at Ford Motor Company. As Deputy Treasurer, Ford of Europe, a $30B business, she led divestitures for Jaguar/Land Rover & Ford France; and the acquisition of Ford of Romania, improving overall profit metrics for Ford of Europe.
Shubhi earned an MBA in Finance and International Business from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Computer Science from Michigan State University with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. She resides in Austin, Texas with her husband and their adorable Yorkie, Rani. They also have a young adult son and are big Chelsea fans.
